PURPOSE: The purpose of creating the ICL All-Star team(s) is to give those selected players the opportunity to be recognized and thanked for their exceptional performance on the soccer field during ICL play. This is an award given to, and limited to, only those players that participate in the Indiana Champions League.
SELECTION: The All-Star Players are nominated by each clubs Director of Coaching. A compiled list of nominees is shared amongst all DOC’s and a final team of 18 players is selected. Players will be notified immediately following their last ICL match by receiving an All-Star certificate. The All-Star selection allows them to participate in any special function(s) for one year after receiving this award.
PARTICIPATION: All-Star Players will be invited to a Major League Soccer match where they may have the chance to meet some of the players and be recognized, either at half time or prior to the start of the match, in the stadium. At some point in the future it may be that we send this team(s) to a tournament in which their club team typically does not, or cannot, attend because of the exclusivity of the event. In no way will an All-Star event conflict with any other club teams program. This team will exist for one tournament and any appearances made and then immediately disband.
FUTURE IMPACT: Being named to the Indiana Champions League All-Star team allows those players selected to be recognized by their coaches and peers. The possibilities of having players participate in the USYS ODP program, or the US Club id2 program exists.Give special players what they want. Good players on weak teams will unlikely ever participate in a major college recruiting tournament. But, with the opportunity to join other good players for a single event provides two important opportunities:
1. Play in an elite environment with selected players,
2. Play in the environment without having to ever leave their original team.
